The government today has announced that they are closing in on unregulated cosmetic procedures.
The Health Secretary is to introduce a licensing scheme for non-surgical cosmetic procedures, such as Botox and fillers.
Here is some of the new legislation they will be enforcing:
* It will become illegal to administer cosmetic procedures to anyone under the age of eighteen.
* All adverts will be banned on all forms of media including social media, influencer advertising and traditional advertising for cosmetic procedures which target anyone under the age of eighteen.
Health & social care secretary, Sajid Javid comments: “While most of those in the aesthetics industry follow good practice when it comes to patient safety, far too many people have been left emotionally and physically scarred after botched cosmetic...
Should salons close on Saturdays? This question must seem like the obvious answer is no, but is it really?
In the salon world, it is tradition to make sure every staff member works the Saturday shift because Saturdays are the busiest and high earning days of the week, right? Well our statistics tell us otherwise!
It has been reported that there are a lot of salons that find that Saturdays are the third if not fourth busiest day of the week. If you actually think about it, what day of the week earns the least or usually goes wrong? Staff members calling in sick, clients are not wanting to buy any retail products because they’re in ‘’out out’’ mode; and did you know that clients are much less likely to tip! This is because on a Saturday, they want to keep hold of their loose cash to use for their Saturday night out!
We know that even our clients plans can go wrong from time to time, and so whats the first thing they go and cancel if their Saturday night...
With the current skill shortage in salons, we wanted to take a deep dive into what you can do, to make sure your current team is feeling valued, thus more likely to stay!
This might seem incredibly obvious, but it is often overlooked- workplace stress.
Stress in the workplace can really affect many variables in a business, like the quality of service, atmosphere, team relations, sales, and even employee turnover. Of course, the last thing anyone wants is to lose valuable staff members.
If you want to know how to build and maintain a happy salon to get only the best out of your team, then here’s what you do:
Change How You Get Started
I’m not talking about your personal morning routine when you wake up, I’m talking about how you begin work for the day. Some of the best beauty businesses are ones that spend the first 15/20 minutes in the morning planning the day ahead and spending the mornings as a team. Within that time, you and the team can share...
Is it too early to talk about Valentine's day?
NO! Not if you’re a business…
I hate to say it, but there is nothing unique about Valentine’s Day, BUT! if you are creative with HOW you offer your services, you can leverage from the most romantic day of the year, BIG time! Many different types of service-based businesses do this every year, but the businesses that put real love into their Valentine’s Day events are the ones that “romance” the client!
Here are some ideas for your beauty salon:
I would be thinking more about the EXPERIENCE I could give my clients as opposed to the treatments themselves- reverse engineer your treatments through creative marketing. Of course, you can definitely offer a limited-edition service or product, because people love to try the NEW things available. But working on the experience is a great way to surprise your clients.
Hello Beauty Boss!
Let’s get real for a minute, as beauty bosses we always know how important it is to level up in our business. We know that setting aside some time for expansion and growth is so vital these days so we started collection information from podcast, ebooks, masterclasses, the whole palaver. However, even though there is so much amazing content out there to help us move forward, its now much harder to scale, so why is that?
We all have noticed how many beauty bosses were signing up to many free contents like podcasts, ebooks, webinars and, let’s face it, we hardly ever open up the products. We see all these amazing free things pop up, but then overwhelm creeps in mixed with shiny object syndrome. Why are we having these issues? We can sign up to the free content, that’s the easy part, but opening them up let alone implementing the teachings is the hard part. A lot of people have been leaning into mentors and coaching...
“Employment is up, investment is growing, public services are improving, public finances are stabilising and wages are rising.” - the words of Sunak today as he opened up todays budget.
It all sounded vey positive, but what WE want to know is, how will it impact your beauty business? So we put together the following:
National Living Wage & National Minimum Wage
Compared to 2020, wages have grown by 3.4%. This move will help more than two million of the lowest-paid workers, Mr Sunak says.
The National Living Wage will rise by 6.6% from the current living wage of £8.91 to £9.50 per hour from 1 April, which the government says will give full-time workers an extra £1,000 a year.
The National Living Wage is what the government has called the National Minimum Wage for anybody above 23-years-old. The National Minimum Wage is for anybody below this age, but both wages see a rise in the Budget.
People aged 21 to 22 will see an increase to £9.18 an...
