It's that time of year again Beauty Boss!

It’s December 1st, which means everyone’s favourite Beauty Boss community event, Secret Sister, is back!

Father Christmas STEP ASIDE, this one is for the girls!

Not here last year? Don’t worry, let us explain:

It’s basically our spin on 'Secret Santa', where you buy somebody a gift and they don't know who it's from!

We held our first Secret Sister initiative last year. It was such a success, so we HAVE to do it again this year!

If you want to take part in gifting a fellow beauty boss, the first thing to know; is that the budget is only £10 (we want to make it super affordable for you all!) There are lots of adorable things you can get for £10 on the high street, and online.

Here are the main details:

  • The budget is £10.00 - of course, if you go over, that's up to you!
  • The deadline to enter is the 18th of December.
  • The last date to post your gift to your secret sister is the 20th of December.

You’ll hear from one of the...

How to deal with competition

Christmas is approaching fast! In the next couple of months when we hope on being busy, we plan on making extra revenue, and we plan on getting new clients. What we don't know is how the competition is going to lessen our success in the coming months. So what can we do about it?

Your first step should be to determine who your competitors are. Is it the salon across the street? Is it that new place that opened up next door? Or is it the salon that has a fantastic social media page? There is no need to worry about beauty businesses in your area that are quiet or see the same number of clients as you do every day. You want to know what salon your potential clients would rather go to, even if it's not too close to your location. A salon with incredible branding and social media presence, one that does amazing treatments for good prices. You want to find the salon that appears so popular that you wouldn't be surprised if they had a waiting list.

If you don't feel that this salon is your...

Here Comes The Bride!

If there’s one industry we can count on to become very busy this year, it would be the WEDDING industry! Many brides have been waiting a long time for their ‘’Big day’’. Due to the pandemic and the various lockdowns, over the last 18 months, countless of weddings have been pushed back, cancelled, and rescheduled.

Now with things beginning to go back to normal, we can expect to see an overload of brides looking to get booked in with their nearest beauty salon.

So, we are already expecting an increase of enquiries from potential brides this year! But the question is, how can we bring these brides in to our beauty salons and keep them as regular clients?

Get Seen Online

It’s important now more than ever to get ahead of social media. The first thing you must always do, is have a strategy, a plan of action. Once you have established what your strategy is, think about the keywords and hashtags that will help you ‘’show...

Your Revenue Goals - Are They On Track?

The first quarter of 2022 is rapidly coming to a close, which also means it's about that time when I notice so many salon owners ramping up what they post in their Virtual Salon Windows (aka that all important IG feed!) - all in the hope of sneaking in some last minute bookings or sales before the end of Q1 - maybe it's time to do that lip-sync Reel you've been considering?!

UK Government starts regulations on cosmetic procedures

The government today has announced that they are closing in on unregulated cosmetic procedures.

The Health Secretary is to introduce a licensing scheme for non-surgical cosmetic procedures, such as Botox and fillers.

Here is some of the new legislation they will be enforcing:

* It will become illegal to administer cosmetic procedures to anyone under the age of eighteen.

* All adverts will be banned on all forms of media including social media, influencer advertising and traditional advertising for cosmetic procedures which target anyone under the age of eighteen.

Health & social care secretary, Sajid Javid comments: “While most of those in the aesthetics industry follow good practice when it comes to patient safety, far too many people have been left emotionally and physically scarred after botched cosmetic...

Is it time to close your salon on Saturdays?

Should salons close on Saturdays? This question must seem like the obvious answer is no, but is it really?

In the salon world, it is tradition to make sure every staff member works the Saturday shift because Saturdays are the busiest and high earning days of the week, right? Well our statistics tell us otherwise!

It has been reported that there are a lot of salons that find that Saturdays are the third if not fourth busiest day of the week. If you actually think about it, what day of the week earns the least or usually goes wrong? Staff members calling in sick, clients are not wanting to buy any retail products because they’re in ‘’out out’’ mode; and did you know that clients are much less likely to tip! This is because on a Saturday, they want to keep hold of their loose cash to use for their Saturday night out!

We know that even our clients plans can go wrong from time to time, and so whats the first thing they go and cancel if their Saturday night...

Autumn Budget 2021- What Beauty Bosses need to know

“Employment is up, investment is growing, public services are improving, public finances are stabilising and wages are rising.” - the words of Sunak today as he opened up todays budget.

It all sounded vey positive, but what WE want to know is, how will it impact your beauty business? So we put together the following:

National Living Wage & National Minimum Wage

Compared to 2020, wages have grown by 3.4%. This move will help more than two million of the lowest-paid workers, Mr Sunak says.

The National Living Wage will rise by 6.6% from the current living wage of £8.91 to £9.50 per hour from 1 April, which the government says will give full-time workers an extra £1,000 a year.

The National Living Wage is what the government has called the National Minimum Wage for anybody above 23-years-old. The National Minimum Wage is for anybody below this age, but both wages see a rise in the Budget.

People aged 21 to 22 will see an increase to £9.18 an...
